Welcome! We would love to have you join our Working Writers Mastermind community! We have new content every week, a library of great video, PDF, and bonus resources for working writers and creatives, and a family of working writers grateful to help you find your success in this crazy career we’ve chosen. We really are a community and we invite you to become a part of it!
In our “Session Zero” video above, you’ll meet the four coaches who began to share in the Working Writers Mastermind venture after our coach Jeri Red Shepherd moved from the program being a solo endeavor to a shared one with some of today’s top independent authors doing the “work” of a writing career: Tiffany TR Rose Nickel (TRN), Author Christopher D Schmitz, and Anthony AG Tony Wedgeworth. Yes; we all have our list of names as working creatives! After six months of solo coaching (Season 01 of WWM), this kicked off Season 02. (Every 6 months is a new season in our program. Please note the episodes aren’t numbered on the YouTube videos until Season 03, which began in January 2025.) The coaches walk you through the foundational STEPS of the Working Writers Model in this session, and you get to know each of them a bit. More systems and processes have fallen into place since this initial gathering, including this course site that allows you to track your learning progress. You’ll also notice that the nine-step model used to be the ten-step model. It didn’t change because of cutting anything out; rather, our “catch-all” category of Admin, Tips, Tricks, Trends, and Tools of the Trade is one that we realized was, by default, being covered within each of the other categories. If we’re talking about production, for instance, we’re also likely talking about the tools needed in that production process; if we’re teaching on social media posting, we probably are including details about trends. While our lessons, resources, and systems have only improved and grown, this initial video introducing the model and the core coaches in the program (as we occasionally have guest coaches, too), is still a strong representation of what Working Writers Mastermind is all about.
IN THIS LESSON
Discover what the working writers model is and how to make it work for your career
The Working Writers (grammar junkies, this is plural, not possessive, because it is for ALL writers - a Mastermind made up of Working Writers) Model is a system created by one of our coaches to take your artistic endeavors and turn them into a viable career by applying basic entrepreneurial principles and practices to your creative product. The model began as a 10-step process that was taught solo but, as one of the core values of the Working Writers Mastermind is community, it didn’t take long for this to become a group effort with four regular coaches and a few who are occasional guest teachers. Today, the model is 10 steps as you’ll discover that we merged our catchall step of the model (Admin, Tips, Tricks, Trends, and Tools of the Trade) into the other steps. We have a few videos that review the model and an excerpt from one of our coach’s books to help get you started down this road of turning your Day Job into your Dream Job.
Enjoy learning how to:
Define the process.
Discover YOUR specific joys and skills within the process.
Apply the steps of the working writer model to your joys and skills.
Get better at the steps by working in and with community.
Our main lesson video will give you a nice overview of the full Working Writers Model, as well as an introduction to our regular coaches, but we have a few other videos for you, as well, from throughout the WWM’s existence, that will give you even more idea about, not just the model, but how the mastermind experience works.
Understanding the model is vital to being able to implement it, but your Working Writers Mastermind coaches also have some great tools to help make this easier for you. Learn about them in this video kicking off our 3rd season of the Working Writers Mastermind.
